CITIIS Challenge

Overview

City Investments To Innovate, Integrate, and Sustain (CITIIS) is initiated as part of all India competition among 100 smart cities through a Challenge Process, launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Govt. of India. The program is in support and finance by the French Development Agency (AFD) and European Union (EU). At the national level it is coordinated and managed by the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) - PMU, APCRDA and Amaravati Smart & Sustainable City Corporation Ltd. (ASSCCL).

Amaravati Smart & Sustainable City Corporation Ltd. (ASSCCL) submitted projects under the 4 thematic areas as per the requirements of CITIIS program

  • Sustainable Mobility
  • Public Open Spaces
  • Urban e-governance and ICT
  • Social & Organizational Innovation in Low-Income Settlements

The project – Basic Infrastructure Development at Low-Income Settlements in Amaravati proposed under the theme - Social & Organizational Innovation in Low-Income Settlements won the challenge and has been granted INR 80 crores with a total project outlay of INR 146 crores.

The project Basic Infrastructure Development at Low-Income Settlements in Amaravati covers all 25 Gram Panchayat villages of Amaravati. The following are the components to be developed under the project

A. Village level components

  1. E-Health & Multipurpose Centre
  2. Model Anganwadi Centre
  3. Holistic Development of select Government Schools

B. City Level Components:

  1. Holistic Livelihood Development Centre (Skill development Centre)
  2. Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility
  3. Multi Faith Funeral Campus
